Perry County, Pa. - Five people in Perry County are charged with kidnapping a teenager. Investigators said they beat the teen, then dumped him on the side of a road.
State police reported the torture began Thursday night at 218 Schoolhouse Road in Penn Township, near Duncannon. They said two suspects live there. The other three stay there from time to time. According to investigators, the five suspects were angry with an 18-year-old male who sometimes stayed with them.
"Apparently, they believed he had stolen some money from them, or stole some property from them," said Perry County District Attorney Charles Chenot. "What the basis is for that, I don't know at this point."
According to police, the five threatened to kill the teenager and dump his body in the river. The suspects (photo, left to right) are 38-year-old Mary Greenawalt, 32-year-old Keith Hammaker, 22-year-old William Leach, 23-year-old Adam Louden and 21-year-old Derek Williams.
"They had tied (and) bound a person with duct tape, beat him severely, stripped him and dumped his body in the Shermans Dale area," said Chenot. "Certainly, the injuries were severe. He was, obviously, knocked unconscious."
State police reported the suspects then dumped the teenager, naked, on Pisgah State Road near Shermansdale. Once conscious, he managed to get to a house and call police.
Police searched the suspects' house near Duncannon and reported that they found a machete, knives, brass knuckles and drugs. All five are charged with kidnapping, assault, terroristic threats and unlawful restraint. They are in prison, held on $50,000 bond.
