If you received a mailing from the U.S. District Court in Philadelphia over the last couple of days, don't throw it out. It's a reimbursement form from a class action lawsuit settlement. Fill it out and you'll get at least $25 from Visa, Mastercard or Diners Club.
"Those credit card companies have a currency conversion fee that they charged on top of any international credit card transactions," says Corrine Sherman of the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association. "They add a fee automatically for the currency conversion. What happened was they had this fee in place and it wasn't disclosed anywhere." That's why the class action lawsuit was filed by consumers. People eligible for the reimbursement made a credit card transaction with a foreign company from November of 1996 to November of 2006.
"They have to reimburse everybody who had a transaction through a ten year period, an international transaction," says Sherman.
The reimbursement forms ask for no personal information so claiming the refund is not risky as far as protecting your identity. If the refund request is for a company credit card, the more detailed red form with the packet has to be filled out. Getting the check may take some time because hundreds of thousands of people qualify for the refund.
Sherman says, "If you've done an international transaction from 1996 through 2006, you should receive this mailing."

If you accidentally threw away the mailing, you can still apply for your refund online at
