Chambersburg, Pa. - Typically people rush out to get milk and bread and eggs to survive bad weather, but this being the weekend before Christmas that grocery list may be a lot longer.
At Sunnyway Foods in Chambersburg, it was the calm before the storm Friday afternoon.
"I'm not worried about the storm. We have plenty of food in the house,” said Jay Burkholder of Chambersburg.
The aisles were packed, but most shoppers said they're ready and prepared for a white Christmas.
"I love the snow,” said Tina Rummel of Saint Thomas. “I'd just rather stay inside and watch it outside."
Rummel has to work this weekend, but that doesn't mean she won't be busy in the kitchen.
“After work tomorrow I'm going to come home, heat up the oven and get some baking done,” she said.
"I’ll be making oatmeal cookies, oatmeal raisin, macadamia and sugar cookies,” said Missy Abbott of Mercersburg.
Shoppers say if the kids or grandkids are in town, that just makes it all that much "sweeter."
"We'll do cooking, baking and hopefully we'll be sledding,” said Nancy Hoover of Fort Loudon.
"It's going to be a great weekend to stay in,” said Abbott.
The grocery stores plan to be open all weekend. Sunnyway Foods says the only way they'd close is if the roads shut down, and that hasn't happened since the “Blizzard of 1993.”
